Dear people of faith,
We commence the ‘Green time’, the long season to Advent, the time when we focus on growth in faith and our Christian habits to enable that growth. I encourage everyone to be part of a small group that is regularly looking at the Bible and the Word of God, Jesus Christ, in our lives. If the groups that are in place don’t suit re time etc, speak to me and we will create more!
I am more and more aware that the strength of a community that cares for each other is found in how we gather together, how we know each other, in small groups – whether it is Mah Jong or the study of the book of Revelation! When we gather in Christ’s name, he is there and we are doing his work. Above all, we are creating opportunities to be hospitable with others – together with the generosity of our God. So it was with all those who came to Holy Spirit yesterday for hospitality together, and for a slow time of sharing food, story and friendship.
There are challenges in being faithful – but know that God delights in each one of us and supports us as we journey in God’s presence.
Parish Dinner 26 July – we are now delighted to announce that Bishop Rob Nolan, known and loved by many, will be our Guest Speaker at the Parish Dinner that culminates Stewardship Focus month, and celebrates who we are as God’s people together. RSVP lists will be in the churches from next Sunday.
Synod 2019 commences next Friday night; please hold our Archbishop Phillip in your prayers as he presides over our church parliament. Please pray for Anne MacRonald and Neville Eckersley as your representatives. We will welcome the Rev’d. Timothy Nicholson to both Kenmore services next week.
Parish mailing for Stewardship Focus month – Every household will receive in the next week communication from myself and the Wardens around stewardship, with an invitation to the Parish Dinner. Please let Marianne or myself know if you don’t receive this mailing.
