Faith Education and Spirituality

Develop a spirituality for the real world.

We believe faith grows best in community—through curiosity and questions, shared stories and space for reflection.
No matter where you are on the journey - whether you are drawn to study, contemplative practices, or simply enjoy a good conversation with fellow travelers, there’s a place for you at Kenmore-Brookfield to explore, grow and be supported on your journey.

Children

Children are an integral part of our church family and an important part the life of our community.

  • A Children’s play area is located inside the church at Kenmore as well as outside on the grass beyond the courtyard.

  • The 9:30am Family eucharist is a relaxed service with a children’s talk and activity time for kids. Colouring/activity sheets are also provided to fill in during the service or take home.

  • Four times a year we hold Messy Church - a creative, activity-based service for all ages full of arts, crafts, games and something to eat!

  • Look out for special services including Blessing of the Backpacks on the first Sunday in February, the Blessing of the Animals on the first Sunday in October, and Family Christmas with interactive nativity play on Christmas Eve! (Dress up as someone from the Christmas story!)

Youth

Teenspirit is a space for high school-aged youth to explore faith through fun, friendship, scripture, and food. TeenSpirit is held on the first Sunday of every month Feb - Dec 4pm, leading into the Spiritalive contemporary service at 5pm and community meal.

What to expect:

  • Great fun playing indoor and outdoor games.

  • Meet new people and make friends of a similar age.

  • Safe and inclusive group discussions on Bible readings.

  • Learn how to use the teachings of Jesus in real life.

Just bring yourself! (And a friend or two if you like).

Study and Reading Groups

One of the best ways to explore faith is in conversation with others. Small groups are a great way to make friends and find companions for the journey.

  • Tuesdays 11am We Make the Road by Walking A discussion group following the liturgical year with Rev’d Deb commencing in September

  • Tuesdays 6.30pm Spirituality That Matters A seasonal study group with Rev’d Deb (usually Lent, June and September.)

  • Wednesdays 1pm Bible Study with Mary Rose

  • Saturdays 10am Bookclub meeting on the 2nd and 4th weeks of the month to read contemporary spiritual books, such as the writings of Richard Rohr, John Bradley, Sr Frances Teresa OSC etc.

Faith Daily

During COVID lock-down members of our community began writing daily personal reflections on the gospel and sharing them with each other as a means of staying in touch and continuing the conversation about our experiences of faith. These proved so helpful that they continue on today.

If you would like to receive these daily reflections, please email the office to subscribe.
