The God of Interruptions

Saturday 11 November
1.30pm to 4.30pm

The arrivals of God are never as we would design them. The scriptures tell us that this trickster God eludes all our fixed descriptions, and delights to upend all our efforts to sculpt a tidy and respectable Deity.

This reflection afternoon will be an opportunity to look again at some of these scandalous stories through the scriptures, but particularly in the infancy accounts of Matthew and Luke. We’ll ponder the confusion, the chaos, the interruptions and disruptions that permeate these stories – experiences with which we too can readily identify. We’ll also have the chance to be encouraged by the themes of pilgrimage, wonder and grace that the stories of the coming liturgical season can call out of our hearts.

Presenter: Patrick Oliver
